Books are a big part of our children’s bedtime routine, and while our teenager now prefers to download her evening read, our 4yr old still enjoys the good old paperback…There are so many children’s books on the market from best sellers to budget shop finds and over the past 14 years we have collected enough to open a shop of our own, so here are my top 10 books for preschoolers.
1.

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson
2.

Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
3.

Stick Man, The Highway Rat & Tabby McTat by… OK so we quite like Julia Donaldson
4.

Why Elephant has a Trunk & Why Giraffe has a Long Neck by Tinga Tinga tales (from the series created by Claudia Lloyd)
We especially love brightly illustrated books, something to keep your child interested and asking questions about the story.
5.

Laura’s Star by Klaus Baumgart
6.

Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae
7.

The Super Smelly Alien, a scratch and sniff book by Nicky Lander
Fun and interactive books can be great for daytime reading, maybe when your child gets a little too excited ( and Mum/ Dad needs a cuppa) or when you are fighting to keep younger children awake either after school/nursery or before dinner, it’s calm, quiet and really enjoyable.
8.

Spot the Dinosaur on the Island by Stella Maidment
9.

Spinderella & Zog by (yep you guessed it) Julia Donaldson
10.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen
Books are such a great way to help your children wind down before bed or to just give you the excuse to cuddle up with your little one for some quiet time together, either way, we can’t get enough..
Hope this helps to inspire you to enjoy reading more with your little ones.
